After the IPL 2025, Sai Sudharsan should be included in the Indian Test team for the Test series in England, according to former India head coach Ravi Shastri. As the former cricket player turned broadcaster noted, the left-hander is a “class” player who understands English conditions.
In the last two years, the Gujarat Titans (GT) opener has played for Surrey in the County Championship in England. A five-match Test series between India and England is scheduled to take place between June and August. India will don white for the first time since losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia in 2024–25.
“This young man, Sai Sudharsan, is present in all gaming modes. I would definitely be watching him since he seems like a class player. As a left-hander in England, I am aware of the English playing style and his technique, so I believe he will be at the top of my list of foreign players hoping to join this team,” Shastri stated on ICC Review.
He is not limited to white-ball: Ravi Shastri.
The former Indian legend also demanded that the Test team include a left-arm bowler. He suggested that Arshdeep Singh be brought in and cautioned India against limiting the left-armer to white-ball cricket.
“I intend to seek for a left-armer. As the sixth (bowling) option, I’ll be watching which left-armer is playing well and attempting to fit him in. It might be anyone. It might even be a white-ball expert, Shastri remarked.
When someone like Arshdeep Singh is referred to as a “white-ball specialist,” I find this offensive. He continued, “I’ll be closely monitoring his red-ball record and the quantity of overs he bowls.
The India-England series will start at Headingley on June 20.
