On Monday, February 24, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by five wickets with twenty-three deliveries remaining in Match 6 of the ongoing Champions Trophy.
Bangladesh achieved 58 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first ten overs of the powerplay. following moving up to the top of the order, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored at a respectable pace, but Bangladesh was left reeling following three middle-order wickets in seven overs.
Jaker Ali contributed a useful 45-run knock, but Shanto ultimately took the lead with 77, his 10th half-century in the format. On the penultimate over of the innings, he was out. As Bangladesh finished with 236 runs on the board, Michael Bracewell recorded his career-best ODI stats of 4/26. They reached the total by losing nine wickets.
Will Young and Kane Williamson were removed in the opening few overs, giving New Zealand a terrible start to the run-chase.
But from then, it was all about Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham, who established a comfortable platform with a match-defining score of 129.
Bangladesh’s experience with the ball was comparable. Similar to their match against India, none of the bowlers showed up to make a significant contribution. With a final score of 1/28 in the seven overs he bowled, Taskin Ahmed emerged as the most economical bowler. Rishad Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz had trouble staying consistent.
