Sam Konstas’ outstanding batting at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground lights up the Boxing Day Test. Despite Nathan McSweeney’s respectable opening performance, the Australian team management chose Konstas for the final two Test matches in the current series against India, and he did not fail to give the hosts a flawless start.
In instance, the 19-year-old smashed Jasprit Bumrah all over the park in a challenge. After hitting the top Indian pacer for 14 runs in the seventh over and surpassing that total to 18 in the eleventh over, Bumrah was removed from the attack. Despite his verbal altercation with Virat Kohli in the middle, the young player remained unfazed and reached his half-century in just fifty-two deliveries.
Konstas was looking okay against pace, but after Ravindra Jadeja came on, he struggled for a time before being dismissed following an LBW appeal. The ball slid and struck the pads after the all-rounder bowled full in the 20th over of the match. Because of Jadeja’s confidence, umpire Michael Gough instantly raised his finger. Konstas briefly discussed taking a review with Usman Khawaja on his way back, but he ultimately opted against it.

Curiously, the child was spotted taking selfies and signing autographs for the fans in attendance just after he was fired. He was given a standing ovation by the audience earlier, and former cricket player Sanjay Manjrekar also praised his willingness to return the favour.
He’s quite busy and popular already! 🔥😊

A furious innings from Konstas also assisted Khawaja in calming down. In the current series, the senior batter had trouble with the bat. With Konstas on fire, he had time to settle into a rhythm and appeared to be in fine form throughout the opening session of Day 1. Because he won’t have to face the new ball, which affected him during the series, Marnus Labuchagne will also benefit from coming out to bat in the 20th over.
Because of the hosts’ outstanding start, Indian bowlers have a difficult task ahead of them. Team India may have a mountain to climb if the Rohit Sharma-led team doesn’t recover in the second and third sessions.
