For the hosts, the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand has been a roller coaster. India, who had lost the first Test of the series in Bengaluru, gave up 259 runs in the first innings of the second Test and could only muster 156 runs in reply.
With 255 runs in the second batting innings, New Zealand increased their lead and set a 359-run mark for India to chase. A scene from the later part of the second inning, nevertheless, went viral very fast.
As soon as New Zealand’s William O’Rourke was dismissed, the supporters took notice. Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder for India, ran out O’Rourke in a move reminiscent to that of MS Dhoni. When Glenn Phillips batted the ball towards Washington Sundar on the fourth delivery of the 70th over of New Zealand’s second innings, both hitters chose to go for two runs.
O’Rourke, however, did not pursue the second run with any energy, and as Jadeja caught the ball, he immediately threw it to the stumps, removing O’Rouke.
