Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player Virat Kohli, who is extremely popular, has traveled to Chennai for the team’s match against CSK at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. It will be held on Friday, March 28 and will feature the ‘Southern Derby’, where Kohli and MS Dhoni will share the field, a unique occurrence in today’s IPL.
The supporters at the Chennai airport welcomed the entire RCB team when they arrived in the Tamil Nadu capital on Monday. Some of them were also at the airport, where they were heard yelling “Ee Saala Cup Namde” after their favorite team, which is one of the most well-known in the globe, as soon as the team arrived. Speaking of Kohli, the great batsman had an exciting start to the season on Saturday against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the tournament opener. Thanks to Kohli’s undefeated half-century, RCB had little trouble chasing down the goal of 175 that KKR had put for them at the Eden Gardens. Bengaluru ultimately prevailed by seven wickets.
The rivalry between CSK and RCB
Returning to the Southern Derby, the IPL has seen some fantastic games between the two clubs, including some unexpected last-over thrillers. Since 2008, these two have participated in 33 games together, with CSK winning 21 and RCB winning 11.
The two teams last squared off in a battle of the playoffs, where the team captained by Faf du Plessis prevailed and ensured that they spoilt the celebration for CSK, who failed to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the 2024 IPL season.
