Gujarat began the run-chase in a very careful manner. They lost both of their openers, Beth Mooney outside and Dayalan Hemalatha in the power play. The game was tilted in favor of the tourists by Prema Rawat’s 19-run over. Ashleigh Gardner appeared to be in excellent form. Despite Harleen Deol leaving in Georgia Wareham’s opening over, the captain did not appear to be bothered.
At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, February 27, Gujarat Giants Women defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women by six wickets with twenty-one deliveries remaining in Match 12 of the current Women’s Premier League.
Gujarat got off to a strong start after choosing to field first. During the powerplay, they captured Bengaluru’s top order, which included the valuable scalp of Ellyse Perry. Despite their best efforts, Raghvi Bisht and Kanika Ahuja were unable to stop significant damage to the ship.
Bengaluru ultimately scored a pitiful 125 runs at a cost of seven wickets. The Gujarat team’s standout bowler was Tanuja Kanwar. She gave allowed just 16 runs in her allotted four overs while taking a few wickets. Important contributions were also made by the remainder of the bowling unit. The other player to finish with two wickets was Deandra Dottin.
Ashleigh Gardner and Phoebe Litchfield teamed up for the remainder of the run-chase.
Damage had already been done when the Australian all-rounder left the game shortly after reaching her third WPL 2025 half-ton. After two consecutive defeats, Gujarat finally got back on track by easily chasing down the mark in 16.3 overs.
