On Wednesday, April 2, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 14 of the 2025 Indian Premier League.
RCB lost three wickets during the first innings phase as GT dominated the powerplay. When Mohammed Siraj fired Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal, it shocked the Chinnaswamy. Two balls after the powerplay ended, Ishant Sharma removed Rajat Patidar for a run-a-ball score.
After a poor start, Liam Livingstone bounced back to record his sixth IPL half-century. The batting all-rounder had only managed to score 24 runs off of 28 deliveries at one point. Ace leg-spinner Rashid Khan went up without a wicket, giving up 54 runs in four overs, while Sai Kishore finished with a pitiful 2/22 in his allocated quota.
GT began carefully, aiming for a target of 170. In the first six, they only managed to score 42 runs. A gap of nearly eight overs between the first and second wickets of Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, respectively. For a well-paced 49, the latter left.
From then on, Sherfane Rutherford and Jos Buttler were in complete control of the events. The opposition bowlers were never allowed to return to the game. Rutherford finished undefeated on 30 and Buttler on 73. Every bowler in the park was blasted, with the exception of Yash Dayal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Key Moments from RCB vs GT, Match 14 of IPL 2025
1. Mohammed Siraj exacts perfect revenge on Phil Salt
After being clobbered for a massive 105-metre maximum on the third delivery of the fourth over by a dangerous-looking Salt, Siraj came back with the most formidable reply. The speedster rattled Salt’s stumps all over the place to send him back to the pavilion.

2. Liam Livingstone pummels Rashid Khan for three maximums in an over
The 18th over was when Livingstone went all guns blazing to dispatch Rashid for three maximums in the entire over. All three of the hits were more or less struck towards the same deep backward square leg region, providing RCB with much-needed impetus towards the business end.

3. Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford combine to wrap up the job
It never really seemed as if the duo of Buttler and Rutherford had any issues while plying their trade in the middle. Their unbeaten 63-run partnership off 32 deliveries provided was just what GT required to ace the chase.
