In Match 42 of the IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs in a fierce match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, thereby ending their home curse. After dropping three straight home games, RCB finally won in a thrilling battle.
Rajasthan chose to field initially after winning the toss. The hosts got off to a scorching start thanks to RCB openers Phil Salt (26 off 23) and Virat Kohli (70 off 42). Kohli was in excellent form and used his signature fluidity to anchor the innings. Tim David’s late cameo (23 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal’s (50 off 27) additional boost propelled RCB to an overwhelming 205/5. Jofra Archer and Wanindu Hasaranga both contributed one wicket, while Sandeep Sharma was the best bowler for the RR, taking two wickets for 45 runs.
RR launched into an aggressive pursuit of 206. After Hazlewood got rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had hammered 49 off 19 deliveries, the tide turned. The middle order was stifled by Krunal Pandya’s double blow, which removed Riyan Parag (22) and Nitish Rana (28). Despite his heroic efforts, Dhruv Jurel (47 off 34) lost wickets fast in the latter stages.
While Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal made significant inroads, Hazlewood was the standout player with the ball, finishing with an incredible 4/33. The Rajasthan Royals ultimately failed, scoring 194/9 in their 20 overs.
