A major blow to cricket Australia came when Ashton Agar, 30, hurt himself lately. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler is unlikely to participate for Australia against India in their five-match Twenty20 International Series since he is suffering from a recurrence of a calf ailment that eliminated him from consideration for selection at the ODI World Cup 2023.
Ashton Agar was unable to play in the T20I series against South Africa in late August due to a calf tear he sustained while training with Western Australia during the preseason. In addition, he returned to action in September versus South Africa but had to depart early due to the birth of his child.
After being excluded from the World Cup, Ashton Agar was replaced by star batsman Marnus Labuschagne.
He was preparing to make a comeback at the Marsh Cup and the planned November series against India, but this setback will have further hampered his plans.
His return date is still unknown at this time. “Given Ashton Agar is a nationally contracted player, WA Cricket will work closely with Cricket Australia to determine his return to play,” a statement from the WACA stated.
