Cricket enthusiasts and analysts alike were drawn to Pooja Vastrakar’s outstanding bowling performance during the third Twenty20 International between South Africa and India. Reema Malhotra, a former leg-spinner for India, praised Vastrakar’s game-winning session, pointing out the all-round bowler’s progress and the team’s commitment to it.
India tied the three-match series 1-1 in the July 9 encounter that was played in Chennai; the second game ended in a draw. Vastrakar’s 4/13 in 3.1 overs was an important part of the Proteas being limited to just 84 runs.
With 55 deliveries remaining, India then easily reached the mark without losing a wicket. Malhotra stressed the dedication of the Indian team to Vastrakar’s progress.
“She has been heavily invested in by the Indian squad. She has plenty of time to prepare, according to them. Although she initially struggled with injuries, Pooja Vastrakar is now seen in a fresh light. It is evident that she has worked hard to improve her fitness and has acquired experience,” Malhotra said on Sports18.

Malhotra gave Vastrakar special credit for his bowling technique. She talked candidly about hitting the correct length and Vastrakar’s control.
“When it comes to bowling, a bowler who knows the length to hit on a given wicket can cause batters’ headaches, and I believe that was demonstrated today.” Pooja Vastrakar’s bowling demonstrated fluctuations in pace and length. “Your control appears better when you bowl a higher percentage of good balls,” Malhotra continued.
Among the important wickets Vastrakar claimed with his effort was the dismissal of the dangerous Marizanne Kapp during the powerplay. She then completed her remarkable four-wicket haul by taking the wickets of Anneke Bosch, Nadine de Klerk, and Eliz-Mari Marx. The two greatest assets for India, according to Malhotra, are Smriti Mandhana’s batting and Vastrakar’s bowling. She underlined how crucial they are to India’s World Cup preparations.
“Battering from Smriti Mandhana and bowling from Pooja Vastrakar.” If you tick those two boxes, your World Cup preparations have already been successful. They are both important participants,” she continued.

“Smriti makes big scores if she stays at the crease; although other players are also important, you need an opener who can score in the 30s or 40s.” Pooja provides you wickets in the middle overs and bowls with the new ball during the powerplay and at the end of the innings,” she said.
