A recent rumor revealed that a handful of experienced Indian players would accompany the India-A team to practice with red balls prior to the team’s impending test assignments. The three ODIs and three T20Is that the Men in Blue will play against South Africa take place from December 10 to 21. India A will undertake a shadow tour to South Africa concurrently.
In advance of the two-match Test series between the two countries, the veterans will be traveling to South Africa with India A to participate in one of the three scheduled four-day matches.
Senior players like Jaydev Unadkat, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ravichandran Ashwin are rumored to be participating with India A. They will likely be looking to warm up before joining the main team to play the Proteas.
In addition, as they get ready for the next Ranji Trophy season, players like Abhimanyu Easwaran, B Sai Sudharsan, Yash Dhull, KS Bharat, Upendra Yadav, and Saurabh Kumar can play for India A versus South Africa.
“Yes, South Africa’s ‘A’ and India’s ‘A’ will play three four-day tests next month. In a few days, the squad for that will be revealed. Sportskeeda cited a BCCI source as stating, “The majority of the reliable young players along with those (seniors) who need some game time before the two Test matches in Centurion (December 26 to 30) and Cape Town (January 3-7) will be there.”
Team India seeks to move past its World Cup defeat.
After losing to Australia, captained by Pat Cummins, in the final of the just finished ODI World Cup 2023, Team India would be trying to better their performances.
But the team recovered quickly, beating the Men in Yellow by two wickets in the opening Twenty20 International of the current five-game series. The team captained by Suryakumar Yadav had a strong start and will be eager to build on it.
