The Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) historic win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 16, was orchestrated by Yuzvendra Chahal. Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh were among the wickets taken by the leg-spinner, who finished with statistics of 4/28.
Chahal may have missed the game due to a shoulder injury he suffered in the previous game, according to PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting, who was overjoyed after the game.
“How about Yuzvendra Chahal this evening? “What a fantastic bowling spell!” “Ponting said.”
“With his shoulder injury from the previous game, he actually had a fitness test before today’s game. I pulled him out of the warm-up, looked him in the eye, and asked, ‘Mate, are you okay?'” He said, “Coach, I’m absolutely correct. Let me go out there. Wow, what a bowling spell!”
PBKS defended the lowest total in Indian Premier League (IPL) history by winning the match by 16 runs. “Wins like these are always the sweetest one, and if you can pull this off, then you should be as good a win as most guys been involved in and I have coached a lot of games in the IPL and that might just be about the best win I ever had,” Ponting said.
PBKS is now fourth in the IPL 2025 points standings after winning four straight games. On Friday, April 18, in Bengaluru, they will play the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
