Although the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has not yet provided an official confirmation, the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025 mega auction is anticipated to take place in Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.
The board is reportedly now considering its options, and an auction schedule should be revealed shortly. The suggested auction dates, however, may conflict with India’s first Test match in Australia, which is set for November 22–26 in Perth, according to a potential problem the BCCI is facing.
Disney Star will broadcast the BGT 2024–25; it’s important to note that Star is also one of the IPL’s official broadcasters, so they would want to avoid any overlaps. However, it is doubtful that there will be any scheduling conflicts because of Australia’s time difference.
According to a report by, some BCCI officials have travelled to Saudi Arabia, while others are scheduled to leave on Monday, October 21. Additionally, the two possible locations for the auction have been reduced to Riyadh and Jeddah, with Riyadh likely to host the event.
It is noteworthy that the BCCI also considered London, Singapore, and Dubai as potential locations for the auction. But the focus has been on Saudi Arabia.
The BCCI has been urged by a number of franchises to make travel arrangements as soon as possible by announcing the location of the mega auction. The deadline for each team to submit their retention lists is October 31 at 5 p.m., prior to the auction itself.
