In the Pakistan Super League 2025 tournament opener between the Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings, Mohammad Rizwan stole the show with his amazing century, even though the Karachi Kings lost the match after chasing down the 235-run target with four balls remaining. James Vince responded with another century at the National Stadium in Karachi on April 12. Nevertheless, Rizwan, the Sultans captain, also attracted attention before to the match by speaking in Urdu, his preferred language, during the toss.
His urge to communicate in Urdu appears to have coincided with the intense criticism he has been receiving for his poor English communication abilities. After David Warner‘s team won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Karachi deck, the incident started. When the toss presenter lost his toss and unfiltered thoughts, Rizwan swiftly begged to react in Urdu rather than English when he was asked to speak.
“I want to speak in Urdu, please!” Mohammad Rizwan asked during Saturday’s toss.
In essence, once a tournament begins, you are less constrained by things like the pitch report or the state of the ground, and you are unable to speak with confidence because we are unsure. On the other hand, I have never seen so much grass on a Karachi pitch before, especially for a Twenty20 team. Right now, we are thinking that we joined the event with the intention of succeeding by analysing the match condition and playing appropriately. We will therefore attempt to score a high total on this pitch,” he explained (in Urdu).
Now you guys should be happy

Because you don’t know everything at first, it’s challenging to choose your best playing combination in the first game. Making your team, playing, and the atmosphere in the locker room are all challenging. However, you acquire a better understanding of all these aspects as the tournament goes on and you play a few games,” he said.
