Robin Minz became the first tribal cricketer to compete in the IPL, making history in the process. Minz is only 21 years old, and the Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians went to auction in a bidding battle for his name. He went from receiving INR 20 lakh as his base salary to receiving INR 65 lakhs from the Mumbai Indians after a battle between the two teams.
Robin Minz is still awaiting his professional cricket debut.
He plays powerful shots and is a left-handed wicketkeeper hitter. Minz, a middle-order batsman, had earlier this year played in an elite T20 tournament in Odisha and hit an undefeated 73 off 35 balls.
Minz has participated in games for the Jharkhand U19 and U25 teams. His selection for a training camp by the Mumbai Indians showed how desperate the five-time IPL champions were to have him join their squad. He went to England for better training as well.
The Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Supergiants all invited the 21-year-old to try out. Despite trying out for Delhi, he was not selected and was not sold at the 2023 IPL auction.
Minz quit studying after passing his tenth grade examinations because he believes that MS Dhoni is his idol. His father, who is currently working in the security division of the Jharkhand airport, served in the army.
However, Robin Minz did not have a fantastic start to his IPL season as he was removed for just three runs on Sunday, March 24, during the match against Chennai Super Kings.
