Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Priyansh Arya scored 62 runs off 35 balls against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 69 of the IPL 2025. Notably, Punjab won by seven wickets and now lead the league. This performance impressed both fans and veteran cricketers.
Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa described the batsman as a ‘young talent’. Arya has had a fantastic season thus far, hitting 424 runs in 14 matches at an average of 30.04. Despite a difficult start to the season, he quickly improved and has been a steady player ever since.
Speaking about the youngster, Uthappa stated that his attitude for important games distinguishes him from other players.
Priyansh Arya has been outstanding in high-stakes games, helping PBKS qualify for the playoffs.
“He’s been electrifying this season, a true revelation among several other young talents. However, while discussing exceptional young people, his name immediately comes to mind. To give such a performance in a high-stakes match that impacted qualifier positioning demonstrates his ability to handle big games. He communicated well with Josh Inglis, rotated the strike effectively, ran hard between the wickets, and capitalised on his abilities,” Uthappa remarked on JioStar.
I believe everyone stepped forward at the correct time: Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings captain, appeared pleased with his team’s performance, stating that they stepped up at the perfect time to help win the match. Now that the club has finished first place, they will have two chances to make the playoffs. Iyer has been in exceptional form this season, leading from the front.
“I believe everyone stepped up at the correct time. We have had the mindset that we must win no matter what the circumstances. Congratulations to everyone and the management. Ricky has been amazing, and for me, it was all about earning the trust of each individual. And that happened via winning matches, and I strongly believe we need to keep that relationship going,” Iyer said.
