On the 4th day of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped two absolute sitters. The young player dropped Usman Khawaja in the first session of the day and Marnus Labuschagne for 46 at Gully in the second. Since his debut, he has performed well in the field for Team India, but on Day 4, things haven’t gone his way.
Interestingly, Labuschagne chose to play the back of a length delivery that Akash Deep bowled rather than walk away, and he ended up getting nicked. Captain Rohit Sharma was furious with Jaiswal for spilling what was a regulation catch.
As keeper-batter Rishabh Pant consoled a very unhappy Yashasvi Jaiswal, he threw his fists in the air in frustration.
India was hoping to bundle Australia early, thus the wicket was very vital to them. While Mohammed Siraj removed Steve Smith, Jasprit Bumrah, an outstanding bowler, swept the middle order by taking the wickets of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Alex Carey in quick succession. The hosts might have been bundled sooner if India had taken out Labuschagne, the final batter to be recognised.

In his 8 years of captaincy, I have never seen Virat Kohli react like this. This is why Rohit still prays to be 0.1% as good of a leader as Virat. pic.twitter.com/3vLmpOfoB3

After the present Border-Gavaskar Trophy, there were rumours that Rohit will be fired, which has put pressure on him personally. India, the reigning champions, bowled brilliantly on Day 4 of the World Test Championship, and a victory in Melbourne would enable them move one step closer to the championship final and complete the series. Rohit may have became agitated and lost his composure due to the pressure.
On Day 4, Rohit Sharma is incensed after Yashasvi Jaiswal missed three catches in the second innings. In Australia’s second innings, Marnus Labushagne has batted with some success as a result. At the moment, Australia leads with 240 runs at 135 after losing 6 wickets.

In contrast, Labuschagne went on to score his 23rd half-century in Test cricket. India’s immediate objective will be to end the current partnership and take the remaining wickets so they can use the bat to finish the job. The visitors will have a very hard time finding a result that works for them if Australia survives the day.
