The film also included a subtle suggestion concerning Rohit Sharma’s future, whose position in the team has become increasingly uncertain. Rohit, while being in the squad, did not make the final playing XI.
Rishabh Pant, India’s Test vice-captain, went viral with his Independence Day post. Along with his wishes and respects for the event, Pant provided a heartfelt, never-before-seen candid video of India’s victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai.
Pant’s footage captured the quick changing room celebrations after Ravindra Jadeja sealed the victory with a boundary, including the delighted expressions of Shubman Gill, Rohit, and Mohammed Shami. High-fives and warm embraces established the tone before Pant focused his camera on the rest of the crew.
The video also featured a meaningful hug between captain and coach Gautam Gambhir, as well as some light-hearted banter among Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and others. The wicketkeeper-batsman did not miss an opportunity to tease Rohit, catching a moment at the conclusion when he is seen closely listening to the senior opener.
‘Kya? Retirement lelu? Har baar jeetega toh mai thodi retirement lete rahunga?’ (What was that? Should I retire? I can’t keep taking retirements every time we win!),” the Indian skipper in the video posted on X.
‘Maine nahi bola bhai, hum to chahte hai khelo!’ (I didn’t say it, brother. We want you to keep playing.),” the wicketkeeper-batter replied.

Rohit Sharma now finds himself surrounded by constant speculation about retirement.
The Nagpur-born stepped away from T20Is after leading India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title and announced his Test retirement in May this year. In between, following India’s Champions Trophy triumph over New Zealand, attention quickly turned to whether he would also step away from the format where he has enjoyed the most success, ODIs.
With no ODI matches scheduled for India until October, it has been several months since Rohit last played competitive cricket. Recent reports suggest that the BCCI may ask both Rohit and Kohli to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to be considered for future ODI selection and more importantly, the upcoming 50-over World Cup in 2027.
