In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rohit Sharma, the opener for the Mumbai Indians (MI), finally achieved his first half-century after scoring just 82 runs at 13.67 in the first six innings.
In the first six games, the 37-year-old barely made an impression, but on Sunday, April 20, at the Wankhede Stadium, he gave it his all against the Chennai Super Kings.
Rohit made his debut with a spectacular six from Jamie Overton, his signature pull for a six over backward square leg, as he chased a below-par score of 177 on an excellent batting surface.
The next over saw the right-hander hit Khaleel Ahmed for a six and two fours. Rohit Sharma beat Chris Gayle’s record for the most T20 sixes in a nation in the process.
For the first time this season, Rohit reached the 30-run milestone. He then reached his fifty off 33 deliveries.
Rohit’s ninth 50-plus score against CSK tied him with Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and David Warner as the most IPL batters to score that many against the Super Kings.
