In the 38th IPL 2025 match on Sunday, April 20, Rohit Sharma, the opener for the Mumbai Indians (MI), put on a show against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The former captain’s outstanding effort at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai earned him Player of the Match when he struck an undefeated 76 runs off 45 balls, including four boundaries and six sixes.
To increase their prospects of making the playoffs, the home team overcame their bitter rivals by nine wickets. By hitting 68* runs off 30 balls, including six boundaries and five sixes, Suryakumar Yadav made a contribution with the bat. Both players’ aggressive batting style has sustained MI’s chances.
In the meantime, Rohit Sharma was honoured at the Wankhede by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) with the dedication of Level 3 of the Divecha Pavilion. When discussing it during the post-match presentation, the player appeared to be very distraught.
It’s a great honour. I used to come here and watch the sports as a little child. At one point, we were not permitted to enter the stadium. Since I grew up playing cricket here and have played all of my matches here, it is evident that receiving that significant accolade is an extremely emotional occasion. When it occurs, I’m not sure how I’ll respond,” Rohit remarked.
It is a topic we discussed: Rohit Sharma,
When asked how he contributes to the club as an impact player, Rohit Sharma gave an explanation of why he bats first. In IPL 2025, the former captain hit his first half-century in seven innings. MI learnt a valuable lesson from his batting against CSK for the next games.
“It’s something we spoke about but 2-3 overs doesn’t make huge difference but it’s not easy when you haven’t fielded for 17 overs, that’s the thought process but I don’t mind that if I my team wants me to come straightaway and bat,” said Rohit.
