On Friday, October 10, Rohit Sharma was training at Shivaji Park in Mumbai alongside former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. He is preparing meticulously for the forthcoming Australia tour, which will include three ODIs and five T20Is. Rohit will only play the ODI phase of the tour, having retired from T20I cricket following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Many admirers gathered in and around Shivaji Park to watch Rohit Sharma practise at close quarters.
During the practice session, fans were drawn to a beautiful scene. A little fan slipped between the ropes, expecting to meet his idol, Rohit. However, he was stopped by security before he could approach the former India captain.
In a video that has gone viral on the internet, Rohit can be seen blasting security for halting the child and insisting that he be let to pass. The move elicited plaudits from the gathering assembled to catch a peek of the veteran. They praised Rohit’s down-to-earth reaction.

Rohit was recently removed from ODI captaincy, despite leading India to the Champions Trophy title in March. He also won the Player of the Match award in the final after scoring an 83-ball 73, as India chased down a 252-run target with four wickets and an over to spare.
Rohit will look to make a strong impression during the tour of Australia, which gets underway on Sunday, October 19, with the first ODI set to be played in Perth.
