During the Champions Trophy 2025, there has been continuous discussion on India’s use of the same location for the entire competition. While other teams had to travel to various locations in Pakistan and Dubai to play their games, the squad has been playing all of its games at the Dubai International Stadium.
The squad was unable to travel to Pakistan for the ICC event because of security concerns, therefore the agreement was made. Although some believe that the Men in Blue have unjustly benefited from this, India captain Rohit Sharma silenced the naysayers prior to the semi-final match against Australia, pointing out that Dubai is not their home field and that the pitches have responded differently in each of their previous games. The fact that the team doesn’t play many games here, according to Rohit, makes it as enigmatic for them as it is for the other teams.
“You are presented with new challenges by the pitch each time. We played three games here, and each time the pitch behaved differently. This place is Dubai, not our home.
Rohit Sharma stated at the pre-match news conference prior to the semi-final, “We don’t play here very often, and this is new for us too.”
The surfaces being utilized here are four or five. The pitch that will be used in the semifinals is unknown to me. Nevertheless, we will need to adjust and discover what is and is not happening. With that, we’ll play,” Rohit continued.
Considering their performance, the Indian squad is the only one in the competition to win each of their three group stage games. In their most recent game, which they played against New Zealand, they won by 44 runs after successfully defending a target.
