Kris Srikkanth, a former India international, believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start on June 1. Significantly, neither player has played in the shorter format since the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal; yet, they have been called up for the upcoming three-match series against Afghanistan. There was a lot of misunderstanding about their involvement in the shortest format, though.
According to Srikkanth, if Rohit Sharma declares himself fit for selection, the team management cannot fire him. The 36-year-old, according to him, is hurting from losing to Australia in the ODI World Cup final and would like to play in the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies. Srikkanth further mentioned that because of his incredible form, Virat Kohli will undoubtedly play in the competition.
Perhaps Rohit Sharma’s World Cup performance has given him confidence.
“Virat Kohli is a given. He is in excellent shape. He’ll gather himself and give the IPL his best shot. You cannot announce that you will fire Rohit Sharma if he says, “I am available.” In the end, Rohit Sharma feels upset over losing a World Cup as well. At the very least, he would like to leave holding the World Cup. He was present for the World Cup in 2007. Srikkanth stated on his YouTube channel, “He would want to do something similar, win a World Cup, and go out.”
There’s no doubt that Virat Kohli would like to win the T20 World Cup. Srikanth
Though regarded as one of the greatest of all time, Virat Kohli has never taken home a T20 World Cup trophy. Srikknath thinks the batsman is unstoppable because he is now in “extraordinary form” and was the top run scorer in the previous edition of the major competition.
There’s no doubt that Virat Kohli would like to win the T20 World Cup. In addition, just the T20 World Cup occurred 13 months ago this year. Virat Kohli was playing at a very high level. I don’t think you can fire someone if they claim they are available,” the 64-year-old remarked.
