In the 32nd game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players will don green jerseys. On that day, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru would play host to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The team debuted the green jersey in 2011 as a part of their “Go Green” campaign. The initiative’s objectives are to encourage environmental sustainability and increase public knowledge of ecological challenges. Notably, the Bangalore franchise has played one game in green jerseys every season since.
On Wednesday, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a picture of some of its players wearing green jerseys on Twitter.
The advertising photo that designated the team’s home game against RR as their first “Go Green” match of the season included captain Faf du Plessis, batter Virat Kohli, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, and keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik.
The Green Game will take place on April 23 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium versus the Rajasthan Royals. You can now purchase our special green jerseys, which are manufactured entirely of recycled materials, on the RCB website and mobile application, the team tweeted while promoting their IPL 2023 green game.
In green jerseys, RCB participated in 12 IPL games.
Over the years, RCB’s followers have expressed support for their green shirt. The franchise has won praise for its innovative use of the game as a platform to bring attention to environmental issues. Whenever they play in the lucrative league, they wear the green jersey to spread awareness of environmental issues including sustainability, conservation, and the need to protect the environment.
Notably, RCB has worn green jerseys for 12 of their IPL games so far. However, they had a terrible record in such games, winning just three times while losing eight of them. They lost against RR by 19 runs the last time they competed in the IPL while wearing the green jersey.
The Faf du Plessis-led team will play Delhi Capitals (DC), the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 15, April 17, and April 20, respectively, before taking on Rajasthan Royals.
