The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off in Match 11 of the Indian Premier League 2025 season on Sunday in Guwahati. CSK chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Yashasvi Jaiswal was removed for just 4 runs off 3 balls, giving the hosts RR an early setback as they began their innings.
Nitish Rana took over after Jaiswal left early and had a brilliant innings, hitting a fast-moving fifty during the powerplay. In the first six overs, RR amassed a commanding 79/1 thanks to his aggressive style. But the bowlers from CSK rallied, and by the fourteenth over, RR was down to 140/5. Although they had a strong start, the RR hitters found it difficult to pick up speed in the closing overs, as CSK’s methodical bowling held them to 182/9 in 20 overs, around 20 runs below their potential total.
Rachin Ravindra was caught off guard by Jofra Archer’s scorching spell, giving CSK a rough start as they chased 183. Nonetheless, the CSK hitters made an effort to establish partnerships in an effort to steady the innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored a brilliant 63 off 44 balls, was CSK’s most impressive player. However, he was the only hitter capable of producing a game-winning performance.
CSK needed a solid finish as the chase went on, and the seasoned pair of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja gave it their all to get the squad across the finish line. CSK lost by six runs, though, as the target stayed just out of reach.
The Rajasthan Royals finally opened their account in the points table with their exciting victory, their first of the season in their third game.
