Shammi Silva, who is the president of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), is expected to go to the IPL 2023 playoffs, which are set to start on Tuesday, May 23. People think that the BCCI might talk about the Asia Cup 2023, which could lead to changes in the next week.
Shammi Silva was re-elected as president for a third straight term, and most of the members of the last committee were also re-elected. The BCCI has asked the president and other important people to come to the IPL playoffs and talk about the Asia Cup, according to the latest news.
Even though it’s no secret that the BCCI and the PCB are fighting over who gets to host the Asia Cup in 2023, the head of the SLC said that big changes could happen in the next week after the IPL 2023 ends.
“We’ve been asked to go to India to see the IPL Play-Offs, and while we’re there, we’ll talk about the 2023 Asia Cup. Nothing is set in stone yet. “But I think the fate of the Asia Cup 2023 will be decided in the next week or so,” SLC President Shammi Silva was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Reports say that the SLC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) agree with BCCI’s plan to move the ACC tournament out of Pakistan. Also, the two boards didn’t like the idea that PCB head Najam Sethi had of having the event in both Pakistan and a neutral place.
But the ACC hasn’t officially said anything about it yet. They might say something in the next few weeks. Also, the Asia Cup calendar hasn’t been set yet. Once the hosting rights are confirmed, the schedule will be made public. Also, PCB hasn’t said anything public about the Men in Green’s participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is set to take place in India in October.
