Cricket fans around are anticipating the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan on June 9 at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in New York. Recent reports, however, indicate that cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar would be present to support the Men in Blue.
Sources close to the International Cricket Council (ICC) say that Tendulkar, who is linked to one of the major sponsors of the international body, is anticipated to be at the stands at the Nassau County field for this important group stage match. His participation will greatly improve the Indian team lead by Rohit Sharma’s morale.
As reported by News18, a source close to the ICC stated, “Yes, if all goes well, Sachin Tendulkar will be watching the match in New York and cheering the Indian team.”
Ranked among the all-time greats in the batting department, the 51-year-old has smashed every imaginable record in batting. Between 1992 and 2011, he participated in six 50-over World Cups and leads the run-scoring lists in both Tests and ODIs. During the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, he further represented the ICC as a “Brand Ambassador.”

First training session is attended by an Indian squad.
Virat Kohli is expected to join the team in the next few days, but Rohit and company have already arrived in New York for their group-stage matches. In preparation for their World Cup opener, the team has started its first training session and won’t be playing any warm-up matches.
