By scoring 218 runs in their first twenty overs and putting the Trinbago Knight Riders on 138/9 to win by 80 runs, Saint Lucia Kings sent a strong message to the other three teams, guaranteeing their spot in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) playoffs for 2024. They currently hold the top spot in the standings.
Given how much the ball was pounded around Tarouba by Kings Captain Faf Du Plessis and his opening partner Johnson Charles, the Knight Riders may have suffered a worse loss than they did. The ball was hit to the boundary several times during a 145-run opening partnership, which may have contributed to the first innings’ more than two-hour duration.
The Knight Riders had to endure a lot of leather chasing and had to wait until the thirteenth over to ‘celebrate’ a wicket, with Charles leaving for an incredible eighty-nine. Chris Jordan caught Charles, a juggling player, on the long-on boundary off a slower ball played by Jayden Seales.
After making a half-century of his own, Tim Seifert blasted 30 off 17 balls to help the Saint Lucia Kings surpass 200. Du Plessis was out, caught on the leg side fence off the brilliant Kieron Pollard.
With just 45 runs off the final five overs, the Kings’ scoring pace did slow down towards the conclusion.
As the best bowler for the Knight Riders, Pollard excelled while Sunil Narine was not available. His 4/38 in the given situation was exceptional and gave his team a chance to chase down a sizable goal.
The Knight Riders were never truly able to reunite. They were reduced to 56/6 after losing wickets at a steady rate in the opening half of their innings. Tim David, Akeal Hossein, and Andre Russell were all picked up by Noor Ahmed’s left arm wrist spin without suffering any damage.

Jason Roy remained unwavering and began to chip away at the total, but the game was beyond the Knight Riders when he was expertly caught and bowled by Shadrack Descarte in the 14th over, and Chris Jordan was dismissed by David Wiese in the next over.
