Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, the Rajasthan Royals are getting ready to rehire Sairaj Bahutule as their spin bowling coach. It is anticipated that the former India spinner, who spent three years at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, will be spotted in the Royals’ dugout starting this season. From 2018 until 2021, Bahutule was a member of the franchise.
After playing two Test matches and five One-Day Internationals for India, the 52-year-old started coaching and worked with a number of teams. He was instrumental in developing young spinners at the NCA. Additionally, he served as India’s bowling coach for the 2023 Border-Gavaskar series and the 2024 India tour of Sri Lanka.
His comeback to the former champions coincides with the team’s efforts to bolster its bowling unit. He will work closely with head coach Rahul Dravid and fast-bowling coach Shane Bond.
Sairaj Bahutule talked about rejoining the Rajasthan Royals and his upcoming appointment.
“The conversations are still going on, and I’m almost done with the franchise. I’m thrilled to be realigned with the Royals, albeit there are still some things to sort out. I’m also overjoyed to see Rahul again. When I was the spin-bowling coach for the Indian team in the most recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in 2023, it was he who first introduced me to them. I’m excited for our reunion because I was a member of his coaching staff in Sri Lanka as well,” Bahutule said.
Working alongside the team’s spinners, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Kumar Kartikeya, will be Bahutule’s responsibility at RR.
