On Sunday, the Chennai Super Kings lost to the Delhi Capitals in their first IPL 2024 match. The DC’s strategic bowling combination proved to be too much for CSK, as their batting lineup was unable to reach the 191-run mark. However, MS Dhoni remained in the middle and produced a string of huge smashes long after the defeat was all but certain.
The CSK greyhead appeared in fantastic form and brought back memories of the good old days, leaving the Vizag crowd looking on the edge of their seats. Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Sing, emphasised on Instagram that the game’s winner was eclipsed by Dhoni’s performance, posting a photo of her husband accepting an Electric Striker of the Match trophy.
“To start with, happy return, Rishabh Pant! Hi, Mahi! I didn’t know we were out of the game,” she posted to her Instagram story.
Dhoni hammered four boundaries and three sixes in his brief innings of play, scoring 37 runs on 17 balls. It is noteworthy that in 2018, CSK won the championship after he scored fifty runs against the same opponent. After a two-year break, the franchise made a comeback in that year as well.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and I, I think, take the same tack: Dhoni
After relinquishing his captaincy at CSK, the former captain of India has been the talk of the town. Since the team’s founding, he has been their only captain and has guided them to five championship titles.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been given the leadership role, and Dhoni recently made comparisons between the two regarding their behaviour on the pitch.

Ah, there’s a new skipper! There is undoubtedly muscle memory. However, I don’t tend to overreact, especially to newcomers. Rutu (Gaikwad), I think, takes a similar tack.
In a widely shared video from a recent CSK event, Dhoni commented, “It was entertaining to watch Rachin chase the ball around the pitch.”
