On Monday, May 19, during Match 61 of the IPL 2025 between the Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, a Sam Curran impersonator was observed. He was spotted immediately following Ayush Badoni’s dismissal on the 18th over’s fourth delivery.
Jake Jeanings, a well-known YouTuber and ardent follower of Australian cricket, was the doppelgänger. After Badoni sliced the ball to deep cover to take the fourth wicket to fall for LSG, Jeanings was seen wearing the SRH jersey and celebrating for the SRH team.
Sam Curran IPL 2025 was finished after the competition was momentarily halted because of hostilities across the border between India and Pakistan.
Before the competition resumed on Saturday, May 17, he decided not to go back to India. For England’s one-time Test match against Zimbabwe, he was not selected from the 13-man squad.

Coming to the game, the Pat Cummins-led SRH won the toss and elected to field first. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram powered their side to 69/0 at the end of the powerplay. The two were dismissed after scoring respective half-centuries (65 off 39 and 61 off 38, respectively). Skipper, Rishabh Pant (seven off six), underwent another disappointing outing with the bat.
Nicholas Pooran contributed with a vital 26-ball 45 before three wickets, including Pooran’s, fell in the final over of the innings. LSG ended up posting 205/7. Eshan Malinga (2/28 in four overs) was the pick of the bowlers from the visitors’ side. IPL debutant, Harsh Dubey (1/44), and Harshal Patel (1/49) proved to be expensive.
