In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, the Indian team began the third Test. On December 14, Australia and India faced off in their third match at the Gabba in Brisbane. It is important to note that the Indian team won the first Test match in Perth with a resounding victory.
India did not, however, follow up on the strong start with another strong performance. In Adelaide, Australia succeeded in winning handily. After India’s series got off to a wild start, captain Rohit Sharma made several changes to the playing XI after the pink ball Test ended in a loss.
Instead of Harshit Rana and Ravichandran Ashwin, the visitors added Akash Deep and Ravindra Jadeja to the starting lineup. Neither Jadeja nor Akash were included in the playing XI for the first two Test matches, and former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar said that Jadeja’s absence was unexpected.
The fact that they began with an off-spinner startled me a little. Jadeja has been given preference.
According to Sanjay Bangar on Star Sports, this has been the best course of action.
Deep Dasgupta also had some thoughts about the modifications India made to the playing XI. “That’s a little unexpected—three Test matches, three spinners. They have not played with the same XI in the previous five Test matches. Still, it’s nice to see Akash Deep back in the starting lineup. “Jadeja has long been a match-winner,” he stated.
Rain continued, thus Day 1 was cancelled.
Speaking of Australia and India’s current Test match in Brisbane, the Indian team won the opening toss. Rohit Sharma surprised everyone by choosing to bowl first, but the day was a bust because of the constant rain.
After just 13.2 overs, the day was called off due to inclement weather, with Australia scoring 28/0. On Day 2, both teams are hoping that the weather will improve and allow for play.
