At the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium warm-up against Bangladesh, skipper Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson opened instead of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The team management decided against giving Jaiswal playing time with Virat Kohli out; hence, he missed out.
According to former cricketer Sanjay Bangar, the team management didn’t back Jaiswal in the warm-up game because he may not play in the T20 World Cup. He noted that ace batter Virat Kohli may team with Rohit at the top, eliminating Jaiswal.
Yashasvi Jaiswal may not play in the opening match; I think the team has decided. If they planned to play Yashasvi Jaiswal, they would have. Since they haven’t played him, Virat Kohli will open, Bangar told Star Sports.
Sanjay Bangar claims that left-arm spinners will not affect Rohit and Kohli early on because they are proven match-winners. The 51-year-old expects Kohli to excel wherever he bats.
They play well. They can score runs against left-arm spinners. They scored many runs. The surface’s performance reveals the team’s thoughts. Regardless of location, Virat’s numbers would be good, he remarked.
On May 31, Kohli arrived in New York and missed the Bangladesh warm-up. Team management didn’t play him to rest him, yet he was at the stadium. During the contest, Kohli waved to him when the supporters showed him love.
