Sanjay Bangar, a former Indian coach, praised Urvil Patel’s “remarkable talent” after his fluid innings against the Kolkata Knight Riders during his IPL debut. Bangar expressed his belief that Urvil was recognised by the CSK think tank as a potential future star for the team.
Additionally, the former Indian cricket player said that Urvil’s thrilling debut made him think of 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre’s first IPL match.
“Very remarkable; it demonstrates Urvil Patel’s sound temperament.
Having the ability to have an impact right away is just amazing. You also wonder if MS sees something in him that might eventually make him CSK’s long-term wicketkeeper and a batsman in important situations because he keeps wickets. It’s quite beneficial for CSK. After giving [Shaik] Rasheed a fair run, they gave Urvil Patel a chance, and he immediately made an impression. Urvil was signed late in the season. “It made me think of the kind of debut that Ayush Mhatre had for them,” Bangar said on JioHotstar.
Vansh Bedi was injured and missed the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League because of an ankle ailment. Urvil filled in for him. Urvil came in at number three for CSK against KKR, and his 11-ball stay produced 31 runs in an innings that delighted both analysts and fans.
As many balls as possible remained before the Men in Yellow were defeated by a slim margin of two wickets. Urvil’s performance is still unknown while CSK has a few IPL 2025 games left. With the knock he performed in Kolkata on May 7, it appears that he may be a long-term member of the competition’s joint-most successful team.
