Speaking with Firstpost, former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar brought attention to the same urgent problem. He expressed particular concern for southpaw Rinku Singh, who hasn’t had enough opportunities to express himself in the ongoing IPL season because the Kolkata Knight Riders aren’t really interested in signing the deadly finisher because their top and middle order are playing well.
Because the T20 World Cup is taking place in June and the ICC has mandated that each participating country submit a tentative 15-member team by May 1 and a finalized one, with only one change allowed, by May 25, the ongoing IPL is particularly significant until the aforementioned dates. Now that we’re back to the Indian team, everyone knows that there is fierce competition for every spot and that there is no place for softness.
Manjrekar even went so far as to claim that he was a sure-shot player when he joined the team, possessing a wide range of shots that covered the whole field. Manjrekar claimed that, aside from the high-profile players that make up the core of the Indian atom and are loaded with resources and skill and are primed to go off during the mega-event in June, Rinku was one of his favorite players.
“I hope selectors won’t overlook Rinku Singh because he’s not getting many opportunities.” He can easily fit right in with the Indian team. You have witnessed his ability to be excellent on every occasion when given the chance, both in terms of his range and consistency. Aside from the main players on the Indian team and the well-known players we are considering, he’s someone I like,” Manjrekar stated.
India need that kind of player in their T20 team. Sanjay Manjrekar on Samson
Moving forward, Manjrekar also desired that Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, be included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. According to Manjrekar, Samson has been maturing as a hitter over the past several months and is finally living up to the enormous expectations that everyone has for a player of his caliber based on his batting performances in the IPL 2024 thus far.

The other batter who has represented India, Sanju Samson, has been around for a while but is just reaching a point where his career is beginning to unfold as we had anticipated. India needs that kind of player in their T20 team, said Manjrekar, “because of his consistency, maturity, and ability to be on song when he plays.”
