Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant were seen on Monday, April 7, at the storied Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) watching the two-leg match between Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) and Jamshedpur FC (JFC) in the Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final.
For those who are unaware, Goenka is the chairman of MBSG, the football branch of the venerable Mohun Bagan Athletic Club, in addition to being the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). As they prepare for Tuesday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) matchup against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, Pant is currently in Kolkata with his LSG teammates.
With around 59,000 spectators in attendance, Rishabh Pant travelled to VYBK to watch the exciting action between MBSG and JFC before to the high-octane match. Thanks to goals from Jason Cummings and Apuia, the Green and Maroon brigade overcame a 1-2 disadvantage from the first leg to triumph 2-0, making it an unforgettable evening. On Saturday, April 12, they will now play Bengaluru FC in the championship match.
A picture that MBSG posted of Pant and Goenka watching the game together quickly went viral. Later, a video of stadium fans taking selfies with the LSG captain was posted on ISL’s official social media account.

At Eden Gardens, can Rishabh Pant put an end to his slump?
At last year’s IPL 2025 mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Pant was paid a record-breaking INR 27 crore by LSG. After that, he was named the team’s captain, taking KL Rahul’s place after he left for the Delhi Capitals. So far, Pant’s start at LSG has not been great.
In his first four innings in LSG colours, the wicketkeeper-batter has only scored 19 runs off of 32 balls. He has done well as captain, though, as the Lucknow-based team has won two of its first four games and lost as many. On Tuesday, Pant will want to improve against KKR. He would feel much more confident after a good knock.
