Sanju Samson was chosen by Sanjay Bangar as the most reliable six-hitter following the renowned Yuvraj Singh. Samson’s effortless ability to hit sixes was likened to Yuvraj’s by India’s former batting coach.
It’s interesting that Bangar chose not to select players like Rinku Singh, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, or Suryakumar Yadav. When it comes to Indian batters in international cricket, Rohit has the most sixes. In the meantime, Virat Kohli is among the select few batsmen in the international league who can knock sixes with conventional swings.
On the other end of the spectrum is Suryakumar Yadav, who is able to hit maximums throughout the park. In contrast, Rinku Singh rose to fame by hitting Yash Dayal for five straight sixes in the final over of a 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders to win the game.
But recently, Sanju Samson has been playing well in T20Is.
In the later part of 2024, he amused cricket fans worldwide by scoring three hundreds. In 37 Twenty20 Internationals, the Keralan cricketer has amassed 46 sixes and 66 fours.
“Happy to see the level of accomplishment he has been fortunate to experience lately. For a long time, he has been there. He simply has a good run of opportunities and the appropriate ones because every batter gets a little more freedom if he plays three or four games in a row, according to Sanjay Bangar on Star Sports.
He doesn’t have to be too concerned about the situation because he is batting up the order. In addition to being a six-hitter, the pitch is up. He can easily hit sixes. Sanju Samson is the only batter after Yuvraj Singh who can do it on a regular basis with such ease. He continued, “It’s a treat to watch him fire on all cylinders.”
For the forthcoming five-match Twenty20 International series against England, Samson has been selected for the Indian team. The first game is scheduled for January 22 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
