On Saturday, April 19, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), although captain Sanju Samson is uncertain for the match. Because of an injury he sustained during the recent game against the Delhi Capitals (DC), the wicketkeeper is currently awaiting scan findings.
During RR’s final game on Wednesday, the right-handed batter with a possible side strain retired injured after 31 off 19 balls. After the RR captain tried to cut a delivery from Vipraj Nigam and seemed uncomfortable, the physio checked the left side of his rib. Despite facing the next delivery, he was injured and eventually retired. RR ultimately lost the match in a thrilling Super Over.
There was some discomfort in Sanju Samson abdomen.
So, we went to get scans. We are awaiting the findings from the scans he performed today. Head coach Rahul Dravid stated on Friday, “We’ll make a decision moving forward and we’ll see what happens once we get a bit more clarity around the scans and the severity of [the injury]’.”
The 30-year-old cricket player was approved by the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to resume playing after serving as an Impact Player for the first three RR games. He had surgery on his finger last month, and Dhruv Jurel took over as RR’s wicketkeeper in his absence.
While Samson was away, Riyan Parag took over as captain. RR lost their opening two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) under Parag’s direction, but they won against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Unfortunately, after two victories, RR lost three straight games and are again in seventh place in the standings.
