Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), has resumed his net practice sessions following an injury. The 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi had to replace the right-handed batsman in the starting lineup when he sustained a side strain during the match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Due to a finger injury, the Kerala native played in the first three games of the RR campaign as an Impact Substitute specialised batter. In his absence, Riyan Parag handled the captaincy responsibilities. Samson only played four games with full duties after receiving a full fitness clearance before getting hurt again and having to miss time.
According to the revised schedule, the first edition champions must play the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their final two league games after being ousted from the IPL 2025. Samson had some time to recuperate from the injury during the week-long IPL halt brought on by the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

In Sanju Samson absence, Parag has once again headed the squad,
Although during his tenure, they have suffered a number of tight losses that have ultimately led to their elimination from the tournament’s group stage. Samson, meanwhile, scored 224 runs in seven innings, making a rather significant impact with the bat.
With just three victories thus far, the Jaipur-based team is presently ranked ninth in the IPL 2025 points standings. They still have games against Chennai Super Kings on May 20 and Punjab Kings on May 18. Despite a lacklustre season, the Royals found a number of talented young players in the 18th IPL, and they want to bounce back more forcefully in the competition the following year.
