After dismissing Karun Nair in Sunday, April 13’s Match 29 of the ongoing Indian Premier League between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, Mitchell Santner displayed an uncharacteristically passionate reaction. In his opening match of the current season, Nair scored an impressive 89 runs off 40 deliveries before being removed by a peach of a delivery.
After striking the deck, a length ball that was slanted off the stump was ripped away fast, defeating Karun’s defences.
Santner, who usually keeps his celebrations quiet, let out a piercing shout and kicked the turf underneath him as a way to let out his fury. Based on the way Karun was playing, the Kiwi spin-bowling all-rounder did indeed secure a significant wicket.
And Santner says, Karun Nair, who?
Seriously speaking, no lesser a delivery could have got him tonight.#DCvsMI pic.twitter.com/p2IliqPgVR— Shrishti Pandey (@QuestContinues) April 13, 2025
Karun Nair, playing his first IPL match after 1077 days, came in at No. 3 as an Impact Sub and hammered his way to a 22-ball half-century at the end of the powerplay.
The 33-year-old batsman was threatening the opposition bowling attack and stroking the ball, giving the impression that he was destined for more. But after knocking off 40 deliveries for 89 runs in the 12th over, he was removed.
After Nair fell, DC lost their way, and things got worse. After Santner caught Karun, the hosts suffered an unbelievable collapse of 7/58. In a thrilling match, MI ultimately prevailed by 12 runs. Karn Sharma, a MI impact player, won Player of the Match for his outstanding three-wicket performance (3/36).
