When the USA goes on a white-ball tour to the Netherlands in 2024, they hope to build on their incredible T20 World Cup performance. The United States of America qualified for the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup in June after defeating Pakistan, a formidable opponent.
Saurabh Netravalkar, a left-arm seamer, was one of the USA’s shining lights during the campaign.
Nevertheless, the former India Under-19 player will not travel to the Netherlands because he has been given parental leave.
Only for the ODI leg, though, will wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous be absent due to parental leave. Before the T20Is, he will reunite with the team.
But following a dismal T20 World Cup performance with the willow, former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has been left off the squad. Nisarg Patel, an all-rounder with a spinning left arm, was also benched during the USA’s World Cup, making him the only player to do so. With two T20I appearances under his belt, wrist spinner Yasir Mohammad now has an opportunity to prove himself. Although he is in the ODI lineup, middle-order batsman Milind Kumar is also not included in the T20 squad.
Although he was left out of the T20 team, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, 36, makes his debut in the USA’s ODI program. Sai Teja Mukkamalla, a youthful opener who is well-established in the USA’s ODI lineup, has made the cut to the T20I squad. The selection of Utkarsh Srivastava, a 17-year-old, over more seasoned and productive players like Sanjay Krishnamurthy and Ali Sheikh has drawn criticism, nevertheless.
In Gous’s absence, Smit Patel, a former India Under-19 wicketkeeper-batter, has been picked to the ODI team. Nevertheless, Unmukt Chand’s wait to make the national squad persists as the selectors have overlooked him once more.
