A roster of fifteen players has been announced by the Saurashtra Cricket Association for the Ranji Trophy, India’s main domestic red-ball competition, for the 2024–25 season. Jaydev Unadkat, a seasoned left-arm medium pacer, is well-suited to head the team and is focused on adding more glory to the group after they won their first two titles in the event in 2019–20 and 2022–23, respectively.
Cheteshwar Pujara, another renowned veteran player, has been selected for what will be his 20th Ranji Trophy season. Pujara, who was once a lock to be selected in the Indian Test team, has not been considered for the national team since he last played for India in the World Test Championship final in 2023. In addition to supporting his state’s batting order, he would be looking to accumulate significant runs in order to re-establish himself as a contender and potentially earn a spot in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad for the next five matches.
The young, talented Harvik Desai, the dependable and skilled Sheldon Jackson, and Tarang Gohel, who hasn’t played in a first-class match yet, have taken up the wicketkeeping positions.
Prerak Mankad and Chirag Jani are the team’s main all-rounders, and Saurashtra will be counting heavily on them to perform well, as they have for so many seasons. They work best together.
Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, one of six bowlers who took 41 wickets in the previous Ranji Trophy edition, will spearhead the attack with his spin bowling. Dharmendrasinh is a left-dox who, rarm orthoemarkably, has
the same last name as another statesman and star all-rounder for India, Ravindra Jadeja. Saurashtra will take on Tamil Nadu Coimbatore in their first Group D encounter of the season.
