Australia will visit Sri Lanka for a multi-format series that will also include a few Test matches. An additional ODI has been added to the series’ altered schedule in anticipation of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which was originally only scheduled for one 50-over match. An additional ODI will help the Australians adjust to the subcontinental conditions in addition to helping them warm up for the international event.
Australia will play Sri Lanka in two Test matches, which will also be the last series of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 cycle, as was previously agreed. They will play South Africa at Lord’s, London in June 2025. The Australians have already advanced to the WTC finals.
Prior to the two sides travelling for the Champions Trophy, the single One-Dayer was scheduled for February 12; however, the additional match will now take place on February 14. You should be aware that both games will take place at the famous R. Premadasa Stadium (RPS) in Colombo.
In their most recent ODI series, Lanka and Australia
When the Lankan Lions played New Zealand in their most recent ODI series, they lost 2-1. Kamindu Mendis, who averaged 37.66 runs per game, was Sri Lanka’s top run scorer with 113 runs, and Maheesh Theekshana, who played in a few games, took the most wickets with seven.
Australia, on the other hand, may have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, but they were thoroughly humiliated by the visitors in their ODI series against Pakistan. With a meagre 79 runs in the three-match series, Steven Smith led Australia in runs scored, and Mitchell Starc led them in wickets taken, with just three in his two appearances.
