The League has chosen to use a player auction instead of the player draft method for the second year in a row.

Fans will not be able to miss any of the exciting moments as the auction will be streamed live on television and digital media. The sale claims to present the world’s greatest cricket players, from seasoned veterans to up-and-coming talents.
All eyes will be on the much awaited Lanka Premier League season, which is scheduled to begin on July 1st and run until July 21st, after the auction.
The competition will start in Kandy, go to Dambulla, and end with a grand final in Colombo.
For those who do not know, Sri Lanka’s professional Twenty20 cricket league, the Lanka Premier League (LPL), was founded in 2020 and has seen four seasons of competitive play. The title is presently held by B-Love Kandy, who won the 2023 championship.
The league overcome administrative obstacles to launch its first season in 2020, among the COVID-19 pandemic, despite early delays. The league continued to expand after Samantha Dodanwala was named tournament director in 2022, despite the fact that the third season of the league was delayed because of Sri Lankan demonstrations and economic difficulties.

Five teams bearing the names of Sri Lankan cities compete in the LPL, which is run by Sri Lanka Cricket and has a double round-robin and playoff structure.
