Shadab Khan has returned to fitness routines after recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out for several months. He posted on Instagram, showing himself training as he works his way up to international cricket.
In the video, he demonstrated his growth by performing intensive dynamic exercises, gym workouts and bowling practice. The 27-year-old batsman was clearly making a concerted attempt to make a comeback for Pakistan.
The all-rounder underwent right shoulder surgery in England on July 5. The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel consulted on the entire procedure.
Shadab Khan injuries forced him to miss several important duties, including the Asia Cup 2025.
The last time Shadab played international cricket was the three-match T20I series at hime against Bangladesh. For the unversed, Shadab last played Tests and ODIs in August 2020 and November 2023, respectively. However, he is still a crucial part of Pakistan’s T20I setup.
With the T20 World Cup set to be played next year, the PCB will be hopeful of his comeback. As for Pakistan, they will be engaged in an a–format series comprising of two Tests, three T20Is and as many ODIs against South Africa at home, with the series set to start with the first Test from Sunday, October 12.
There are not many ODIs that Pakistan will play before the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Therefore, the team management will be keen to get Shadab as much as game time prior to the mega event as possible.
