In Match 14 of the Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL) match, the well-liked T20 women’s team Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) by nine wickets. Notably, the match was played on Saturday, March 1 at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Bengaluru could not quite get off to a good start after being put in to bat first, as captain Smriti Mandhana was removed in the second over. Ellyse Perry and Danni Wyatt-Hodge stitched a vital 44-run partnership for the second wicket. After Wyatt-Hodge fell, Perry was joined in the middle by Raghvi Bist. The innings was anchored by the former. She was dismissed for 33 off 32, though, since she was unable to build on her knock.
Perry once again gave a fantastic solo performance. With an undefeated 60* from 47 deliveries, she concluded the innings. After Bist, the hosts’ middle-order hitters were only able to score a few boundaries between them off of 16 deliveries. Shree Charani made an impressive WPL debut, giving up figures of 2/28 in four overs as Bengaluru finished at 147/5.
The home team led the powerplay during the first half before the run-chase. Bengaluru seemed to be in control of the game after dismissing a struggling Meg Lanning for 2 (12). But the tourists took control of the next three powerplay overs and scored 36 runs. By the end of the first six, Shafali Verma had sped to 27.
At that point, Shafali and Jess Jonassen’s top-order batting was crucial. Bengaluru lost the game because of their numerous boundary hits and astute runs between the wickets. With 4.3 overs remaining, the two batters chased the goal and finished on 80* (43) and 61* (38), respectively. Delhi have won five of their last seven games this season.
