Before Bangladesh’s final ODI World Cup match against Australia in Pune, Shakib Al Hasan sustained a blow to his left index finger and had to leave India. Since then, he has been experiencing impaired vision. The talented all-round player then entered politics and most recently emerged victorious in Bangladesh’s assembly elections, claiming the Magura seat. He then went back to playing cricket, and he’s currently with the Rangpur Riders in the ongoing BPL. Shakib, though, is just bowling because he hasn’t batted in the previous two games.
His return to the national squad may be delayed as he has not yet reached maximum fitness. Before playing a two-match Test series in March, Sri Lanka is scheduled to visit Bangladesh for a three-match ODI and Twenty20I series. However, Shakib is unsure if he will be able to play in the series. The 36-year-old said he will talk to BCB representatives before answering calls, but he hasn’t confirmed his availability yet.
“Time will tell.” We are still participating in the tournament. Cricbuzz cited Shakib Al Hasan as stating, “I’ll talk to the officials and then make the decision (about playing Sri Lanka or not).”
Shakib Al Hasan hasn’t decided on his ODI skipper yet. Regarding the same, the cricket player said he hasn’t had a conversation about it with management yet.
“We haven’t talked about it yet, but I will make a decision in this regard (ODI captaincy) after speaking with the board,” he stated.

Shakib Al Hasan expressed remorse for not being able to provide his all-around abilities to Rangpur during the current campaign. The cricket player stated that he cannot establish his flow when there are no runs and has not batted. He is putting a lot of effort into making a strong return to cricket and has ruled out retiring.
“I will feel more at ease the more runs I score. If there are no runs, I lose the rhythm. Playing with one side is something I have never done in my life. I feel bad for the Rangpur Riders because it’s my first time. I can only meet half of what they have expected of me.
“I came to see that awful things always happen at bad times. Shakib Al Hasan stated, “I am trying to make a comeback and I am not thinking about anything else (like quitting cricket). Let me finish my effort and later I will think about it.”
