Mohammed Shami, India’s premier fast bowler, has once again sparked controversy after his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, posted a stunning Instagram post accusing him of criminal misbehaviour.
The charges came just days after the Calcutta High Court ordered Shami to pay INR 4 lakh per month in maintenance, INR 1.5 lakh to Jahan, and INR 2.5 lakh to their daughter Aaira. The order was issued seven years ago and was enacted under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. On Friday, July 4, Jahan took to Instagram to accuse Shami.
“We’ll have a strong relationship until my dying breath, Inshallah. The only thing left to do is pick what type of powerful connection you want. We’ve been involved in a legal struggle for seven years. What did you get from it? You ruined your own family as a result of your lack of character, selfishness, and meanness. How many criminals did you pay to damage, discredit, harass, and defeat me everywhere?
Did you accomplish anything? You wasted your money on crooks and whores. Things would have been so much better if you had spent that money on your daughter’s education, life, and future while still providing me with a decent life. You would have been saved from sin, and we could have led a respectable and respected life. You took advantage of a male-dominated society and remained pleased while antisocial people insulted me.
Inshallah, I will now seek legal assistance in claiming all of our rights and living happily. Now consider whether type of support is stronger: social or legal. But keep in mind that all of the antisocial people who are currently providing you with moral support are actually supporting your sins. Inshallah, the day your bad luck begins, these folks will make your life horrible. Have faith in it,” she wrote.

Jahan and Shami married in 2014 and welcomed their daughter in 2015. However, their relationship hit rock bottom in 2018 when Jahan, a former model and KKR cheerleader, accused the cricketer of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and even match-fixing. The allegations led to a prolonged legal battle, with Jahan claiming Shami had cut off financial support and misused his wealth.
She had initially been awarded INR 50,000 per month for herself and INR 80,000 for her daughter by a lower court in 2023, a decision she contested in the High Court. Her legal team argued that given Shami’s annual income of over INR 7 crore, the earlier order was insufficient.
Shami misses England tour due to fitness concerns
Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court’s ruling significantly increases Shami’s financial obligations, which now stand at INR 4 lakh per month with arrears dating back to 2017. Despite the serious allegations, the pacer has consistently denied all charges. He continues to be part of Indian cricket, although he missed the ongoing England Test series due to fitness concerns.
