After nearly three years, Pakistan defeated England 2-1 to win a Test series at home. At the expense of England’s humiliation, captain Shan Masood overcame the long-standing curse of losing a series at home. The Pakistani captain, who is thrilled over the victory, has disclosed that he has a close relationship with England skipper Ben Stokes.
Masood disclosed that Stokes and him had a heated conversation about their respective personal losses that they were dealing with at the time following their victory in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Masood was dealing with the death of his sister, while Stokes, an all-rounder for England, had lost his father. Masood also expressed his hope that the “Bazball” would defeat Australia and India the next year.
“England is capable of winning a series there. Shan Masood stated,
as cited by Mail Sport, “I’m sure they’ll be gunning for victory after a loss because of the kind of determined people they are and the kind of determined leader Ben Stokes is.”
“I discussed sadness with him. On a personal level, he has experienced a lot. At about the same time as I lost my sister, he lost his father. He continued, “I asked him how he dealt with his grief on the field, and it was very heartening.”
If you haven’t heard, England is in New Zealand right now for the three-match Test series.
