Shane Bond, a former pacer for New Zealand and bowling coach for the Mumbai Indians, has offered his thoughts on Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury and prospects in the game. Although the Indian pacer’s return to the Indian Premier League has not yet been guaranteed, the 49-year-old said that the injury scares may not be over.
Although Jasprit Bumrah is unquestionably among the top pacers in the world at the moment, it appears that he continues to struggle with injuries.
He was supposed to play in the current IPL 2025 season, but the team has not yet announced if he will be available. According to Bond’s candid remarks regarding the pacer’s health, the 31-year-old is in danger of suffering a fracture. This could serve as a warning to the MI team, which is participating in the IPL 2025 this year.
“I don’t believe that. Even after undergoing surgery in 2023, he played every Test match against Australia and gave incredible performances. Ultimately, it hasn’t cracked or fractured, but he is on the verge of one after bowling too much over the course of a month. However, India would have discovered that if they repeat the same strategy during a five-Test series in England, they will most likely achieve the same outcome, Bond said.
The supply of Bumrah is still unknown. But recently, he was spotted bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in the nets. In the near future, the MI squad hopes he can return to full fitness and resume bowling for the five-time champions. With 165 wickets from 133 games, Bumrah is the franchise’s second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL, trailing only MI great Lasith Malinga, who is presently ahead of the charts with 170 wickets.
